Aquatint Screens are acetate sheets covered in tiny squiggles which are designed to diffuse the light source when used in conjunction with the Solar Plates above. When you want to produce an Intaglio print from a Solar Plate, cover with an Aquatint Screen and expose to a strong UV light source for under 2 minutes. This hardens up the surface of the Solar Plate by 20% making the etching process less severe. The Aquatint Screen can be used over and over again so store in a safe, dark, flat, cool place. The plates produced with this method will require the ink to be rubbed into the etched lines and the excess removed like any normal etched plate. See step by step opposite.
